We need your help with this year’s Woodstock Neighborhood Plant Sale. The sale is scheduled for Saturday, May 11, 2019, the day before Mother’s Day, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Woodstock Community Center, 5905 E 43rd Ave., Portland.
Proceeds from the sale help pay for routine maintenance, including custodial service and supplies, for the community center, as part of an agreement with Portland Parks that has helped keep the center open since 2004. Our volunteer “Friends of the Woodstock Community Center” coordinate all this.
We need volunteers on three different days
Thursday, May 9, from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM: Cover the community center’s North Room floor with red rosin paper, and get tables set up for sorting and organizing plants.
Friday, May 10, from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM: Help bring plants into the Woodstock Community Center, and label, price, and sort plants into categories (herbs, ground covers, white perennials, etc.). We need 12 to 24 volunteers for as much time as they can spare; some plant knowledge helps, but is not absolutely necessary.
Saturday, May 11 (day of sale) from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM: Beginning at 7:30, set up outdoor display tables, carry plants outside and arrange them on tables. From 9:00 AM to the end of the sale, help customers find and transport plants, and help with plant information. From 2:00 PM on, help put things away and clean up in and around the community center.
