The Portland Police Bureau’s Homicide Detail, in cooperation with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public’s help to solve a homicide that occurred in the Woodstock Neighborhood of Southeast Portland.
On Tuesday September 30, 2014, at 11:08 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report of a shooting in the 6100 block of Southeast 52nd Avenue.
Officers and medical personnel arrived and located the victim, 30-year-old Michael William Olson, deceased after suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. Olson resided in the Woodstock Neighborhood.
Homicide investigators believe Olson was killed in the course of a robbery.
An eyewitness described the suspect as possibly being a light-skinned African American or Hispanic male.
Homicide investigators are continuing to follow leads this morning and believe there may be several people with information about the shooting. This is the 19th homicide in Portland in 2014.
Witnesses may contact the investigators directly or, to remain anonymous, they may provide information through Crime Stoppers of Oregon.
Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information, reported to Crime Stoppers, that leads to an arrest in this case, or any unsolved felony, and tipsters can remain anonymous.
Information learned from social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter or YouTube should be shared with investigators as these tips may lead to the identification of a suspect or suspects. Links can be shared directly with investigators or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
